Public Golf Courses in the Charlotte Area
Charlotte, North Carolina is the largest city in North Carolina and home to some of the state's best golf courses. The city is also home to a number of professional sports teams, including the Bobcats in the NBA and the Panthers in the NFL. The Charlotte area features more than a dozen museums and six colleges. There are over 30 public or municipal golf courses within 20 miles of Charlotte, including a dozen within the city limits.

The Golf Club at Ballantyne

The Golf Club at Ballantyne is an 18-hole public course located two miles from the center of Charlotte. The par-71 course plays 6,710 yards from the longest tee boxes with a course rating of 71.5 and a slope rating of 133. The course features four separate tee boxes on each hole and tree-lined fairways. Numerous bunkers guard many of the greens and water hazards can come into play on as many as 10 holes. The course is on the grounds of The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge and features a practice area and pro shop. Lessons are available as are packages that include accommodations at the hotel and green fees.

Larkhaven Golf Club

The Larkhaven Golf Club is the oldest public golf course in Charlotte. Built in 1958, the 18-hole course features a challenging layout. From the longest tee boxes, the Larkhaven Golf Club has a course rating of 71.9 with a slope rating of 130. The length of the course varies from 6,717 yards from the longest tees to 4,615 yards from the shortest. Nine holes feature water hazards with the majority of greens surrounded by bunkers. The par-72 course has four separate tee boxes.

Regent Park Golf Club

The Regent Park Golf Club is a par-71 golf course located in Fort Mill South Carolina, just past the North Carolina border and about 12 miles from Charlotte. The 18-hole course plays to a length of 6,785 yards from its longest tee boxes with a course rating of 73.0 and a slope rating of 138. A number of holes have a creek running across the fairway and 14 of the 18 holes have potential water hazards. The course also features a fully-equipped practice facility. The practice facility includes a lighted driving range with both covered and outdoor stations, a putting green with practice bunkers and a separate pitching green.
