The Fillmore
At the boundary of the Western Addition and Pacific Heights neighborhoods, The Fillmore has a place in rock history: bands that have played here include Led Zeppelin, The Doors and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The Fillmore still hosts big-name national and international touring artists. The club is now owned by the ticketing company Live Nation.

The Warfield
An old vaudeville theater, the Warfield books an eclectic range of artists to perform at its 2,250 seat venue in downtown San Francisco. Past artists have varied from The Clash to The Cantonese Opera from China.

Cafe Du Nord
Café Du Nord, a former Prohibition era speakeasy, is a live music club and restaurant located inside the Swedish-American building in the Castro district. The venue was built in 1907 and maintains its Victorian interiors. There is live music from mostly local artists, seven nights a week.

Great American Music Hall
San Francisco's oldest nightclub, opened in 1907, is decorated in an elegant fashion, with ornate balconies, marble columns and ceiling frescoes. It is, however, located in a run-down neighborhood--the Tenderloin. Throughout its history. the Great American Music Hall has been a bordello, jazz club and burlesque hall and has hosted acts as varied as fan dancer Sally Rand to Duke Ellington and Van Morrison.
