San Diego Balboa Park Restaurants
After a riveting round of golf on the Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course, you're likely to have worked up a hefty appetite. Fortunately, there are plenty of fantastic dining options for every taste and budget located within the park itself. Whether you are looking to enjoy filet mignon under the starry San Diego sky or a quick burger beside a grassy park, Balboa Park's dining options provide a variety of choices.

The Prado

The Prado is one of San Diego's most famous and beloved restaurants. Located in the center of Balboa Park, this Spanish-styled building is rich with history. The Italian/Latin fusion cuisine created by Chef Jeff Thurston fits in perfectly with the multicultural background of San Diego. To truly enjoy everything this restaurant has to offer, visit the bar for the amazing happy hour specials or sit on the patio and enjoy the majestic beauty of Balboa Park while you enjoy your meal.

Albert's Restaurant

Albert's Restaurant is a fine-dining establishment located in the heart of the San Diego zoo. The menu changes regularly, but usually features pizzas, pastas, salads and local specialties. This dining area, named for one of the zoo's most famous residents--a silverback gorilla named Albert--is the only bar located in the zoo, so even if you are not looking for a full meal, feel free to drop by Albert's and enjoy a cocktail and appetizer in the African safari lounge setting.

Tea Pavilion

The Tea Pavilion is one of the most relaxing lunch options in the park. While many of the small cafes are filled with tourists from around the country, the Tea Pavilion is preferred by mostly local visitors. Enjoy a selection of traditional Japanese foods, such as miso soup, sushi and pork katsu, or try one of the restaurant's fusion options--like the California roll sandwich loaded with crab meat and avocado. Don't forget to try any of the pavilion's delightful loose-leaf tea selections and to take a casual stroll through the understated beauty of the Japanese Friendship Gardens next door.

Village Grill

When you're looking for something fast and cheap, look no further than the Village Grill. The soft serve ice cream, hot dogs, burgers and pizza served here are quick and filling. Outdoor umbrellas provide an ideal place to eat your quick snack as you enjoy the beautiful weather of San Diego and watch children play in the grass area across the street.
