North Florida Attractions
North Florida presents traveling golfers amazing courses to play on, but it offers some remarkable attractions to enjoy between rounds as well. During your down time, take the whole family to a spectacular zoo in Jacksonville, head down the road a little way to explore the World of Golf Village and end up in the country's oldest city--St. Augustine--looking for some of its famous ghosts.

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas and offers its visitors the only walking safari in the northeast region of the state. Covering 120 acres with 92 acres developed, the zoo is home to more than 1,500 exotic and rare animals, and along with the gardens it contains 1,000 types of plants. Things to see and do on your visit include learning and interactive experiences such as "Keeper Talks" about many of the zoos animals, exhibits like the River Valley Aviary, African Loop, Stingray Bay, Giraffe Overlook, Range of the Jaguar, Australian Adventure and Monsoon Asia. Other highlights include train rides, carousel rides, restaurants and gift shops.

World Golf Village

A trip to this area of the country would not be complete without a stop at the World Golf Village south of Jacksonville, a few miles north of St. Augustine. Here you can explore the World Golf Hall of Fame, which features notable artifacts, personal items and interactive displays detailing the history of the game and its players. The museum presents exhibits on golf's history and an IMAX theater that shows the newest educational and blockbuster movies.

St. Augustine Ghost Tours

St. Augustine is one of the oldest and most historical towns in the country. It is world famous for the many "ghostly encounters" experienced by visitors. Choose among four ghost tours of the area, including one that bills itself as "fun for all ages and not too scary" that would be appropriate for younger children.
