Understand What To Be Looking For
Searching for the price that fits a golfer's needs as well as a convenient location should be two minor points in the criteria. Regarding golf instruction, the phrase "What you pay for is what you get" is at best inaccurate. There are golf instructors who are fantastic and charge very little, and there are others who are well below average and charge a lot. And just because a golfer lives a couple blocks from a golf course does not mean he will be well served by the convenience.
When You Know Then You Should Seek
Ask other golfers who they would recommend for the type of problem being confronted. Seek references about recommended instructors. It is important to ask if the instructor stays on point or does he try to do more than what was originally intended? Search for an instructor who can teach multiple methods. Look for a facility that is clean and organized. You are more likely to find outstanding instruction at facilities that are well organized. This includes the golf course, practice facility and the golf academy or instruction area.
Be Upfront On What You Want
When the instructor has been found, be upfront about what is the problem and the desired result. Make sure to be specific in the instructions. Never be afraid to voice concern if the instruction is not working.
Establishing a Relationship
Instruction that helps the golfer is almost always the instruction that comes from an instructor who provides outstanding communication skills. A working relationship is based on understanding and communication from both parties. Once the golfer finds the right instructor, he is off to an enjoyable journey improving his game.
