Columbus, Georgia is a military-friendly city located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. It is a part of the Fort Benning community, home to three challenging nine-hole courses. Golfing, tennis or bicycling on the Riverwalk will leave visitors ready to enjoy a hearty Italian meal with members of the entire family.

Parnello's Pizza

Parnello's Pizza is a casual, family-style dining establishment that offers the best of both Italian and American cuisine. The restaurant is famous for its hand-tossed pizzas with homemade sauce and fresh ingredients. It also offer a variety of pastas and fresh salads to top off an exquisite meal. The meny also features chicken and catfish. Guests may enjoy dining outdoors if the weather permits. All menu items are available for take-out as well. Parnello's is open from Sunday thru Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Daily lunch specials are served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Peluso's Italian Restaurant

Peluso's Italian Restaurant specializes in piping-hot lasagna, hoagies and spaghetti that are all made-to-order. Another one of the more popular menu items is a thin-crust pizza, although thick crust and pan-style crust is also available. Each pizza is freshly made to guests' liking at the time they order with ingredients that are fresh, not frozen. Daily luncheon specials include a drink and salad and are available from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday thru Saturday and closed on Sunday. Prices in 2009 are $10 and under for dinner, with lunch specials running approximately $6 including drink.

Cafe Amici

Cafe Amici is conveniently located near the Columbus Metropolitan Airport and offers a casual, yet elegant atmosphere reminiscent of Olive Garden with slightly more privacy. Vegetarians will appreciate the fact that Amici's offers a wide variety of vegetarian meals. There is also a well-rounded selection of pasta, seafood and appetizers. A wine list is available for those 21 and over. A kid's menu for children 12 and under has healthy selections for even the pickiest eaters.The restaurant is open Monday thru Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with Saturday hours being 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., closed Sundays. Dinner prices in 2009 average around $15 per person not including tip or gratuity. An 18 percent gratuity is added to parties of five or more.
