Tucked up against the majesty of Pikes Peak, whose view from the summit inspired the words to "America the Beautiful," Colorado Springs has more than 300 days of sunshine a year. The climate is moderate, meaning you can often golf during the winter. The city has 15 golf courses, from private only courses like Cheyenne Mountain and the 54-hole, three-course setup at the Broadmoor that was designed by Jack Nicklaus and will host the 2011 Women's U.S. Open, to public courses like Kissing Camels and Patty Jewett, both of which offer 27 holes. There are also many dining options in the town, including excellent Italian restaurants.
