For a romantic getaway that includes hitting the links, Houston, Texas, has a vibrant golf scene. One local golfing magazine, "Golf Houston," claims that it is read by more than 240,000 readers yearly. Every week, golfing tournaments and events can be found in Houston, along with golf instruction and many retail outlets. But once you have finished with a day of golfing, Houston also offers romantic bistros for an evening of dining out.

Mockingbird Bistro

Since opening in 2002, Houston's Mockingbird Bistro has drawn the attention of such notable magazines as "Southern Living," "Esquire," "Bon Appétit" and "Zagat Survey." The "Houston Chronicle" has featured Mockingbird in its pages, and the bistro has been given some of the top awards that Houston's dining scene has to offer. The Mockingbird calls its cuisine Texas Province, although the food is served in the traditions of haute cuisine. The menu includes a selection of soups and salads as well as seafood, fowl, beef and lamb. A brunch menu is also served on Sunday.

Cava Bistro

A little bit of jazz-age Harlem, New York City comes to Houston with the Cava Bistro. Diners who eat at the Cava Bistro will find a red-trimmed room with plush upholstery and shiny black tables lit by chandeliers. Pictures on the wall showcase jazz singers, early jazz-era advertisements and scenes from New York's Harlem neighborhood. The food ranges from Mediterranean to old world European and Moroccan, and a full beer and wine bar is on tap.

T'afia Bistro

T'afia Bistro bills itself as a passionately local establishment. The name T'afia comes from the Creole word "ratafia," a fortified wine made with seasonal produce. As the name implies, ratafia is one of the main offerings on the menu, along with coastal Mediterranean cuisine and boxed lunches to go. Chef Monica Pope has regularly garnered local awards from the Houston Press as well as the "Houston Business Journal" and "Bon Appétit" magazine for the food served at T'afia.
