NYC Bars & Lounges

By Ruben Porras

NYC Bars & Lounges
New York City is more famous for its bustling bar scene than its golf scene, but if you combine the two you may just come up with a vacation that you will remember for a long time. There are a number of NYC bars and lounges where you can relax and unwind after shooting for par at Staten Island's LaTourette or South Shore courses, Dyker Beach in Brooklyn, Clearview in Queens or at Split Rock in the Bronx. The NYC golf scene is getting more and more popular every year for tourists and locals, and it mixes well with a beverage at a favorite hot spot.

Mé Bar

Me Bar sits perched upon the roof of the La Quinta near Fifth Avenue under the shadow of the Empire State Building. Known for calm and cozy ambiance, Me Bar mixes up an excellent selection of house specialty drinks at prices that are said to be more reasonable than those of neighboring establishments. Relax and enjoy the surroundings and amazing views outdoors under a retractable roof while you take in the lights and sounds of NYC. This is a wonderful place to make memories although the space is a bit cramped to be considered romantic. The bar has a unisex restroom.

Milk and Honey

Milk and Honey, one of the most famous and exclusive bars in all of NYC, has a strictly enforced reservations-only policy and famously does not list a phone number. Talk to a local about access. You will have to do some research and work to get in and that is part of the fun and draw of the place. Unlike some other bars in the area, Milk and Money is known to be quiet enough to enjoy the conversation at your table. Try a unique drink like the famed Pisco Sour with Orange Flower Water and make sure to be on your best behavior. Milk and Honey lists an interesting set of "house rules" on its website. There will be no hooting, hollering or name dropping allowed and if you happen to be in the company of a celebrity (very common) please let him or her relax and enjoy their experience.

V-Bar

V-Bar features more than 20 different bottle beers on a diverse menu and half a dozen beers on tap including hard-to-find favorites like Magic Hat Number. V-Bar started out as a one-man shop that was only open at night but has now become a coffee bar during the day as well. A long wine list accompanies the unique beer list for your enjoyment. V-Bar is quickly becoming one of the best known bars in Greenwich Village and is a must visit while you are in the area. The doors open at 10 a.m. every morning and the evening starts to heat up at about 5:30 p.m.
