Downtown Denver Breakfast Restaurants

Downtown Denver Breakfast Restaurants
Whether you've been on the greens at the Wellshire Golf Course, Boulder Country Club or the public course northeast of Denver in City Park, you need to indulge in a tasty breakfast. Because the Mile High City is such an active outdoor area, Colorado residents do not mess around with breakfast--they enjoy a rib-sticking meal before venturing out. Be sure to enjoy a Bloody Mary or Mimosa at one of these fine eateries.

Lucille's Creole Cafe

Enjoy some Southern hospitality and spicy comfort food at Lucille's Creole Cafe. You don't need reservations, but weekends are a bit busy. Luckily, you can grab a Spicy Cajun Bloody Mary (with Cajun shrimp) and a beach mat and lounge under the sun on the front lawn until your table is up. Be sure to try a biscuit or grits with your Jennifer Eggs Benedict (avocado, Hollandaise sauce, English muffin and sauteed spinach). The atmosphere is quaint and intimate, down to the crafty patchwork quilt napkins. Prices are reasonable and portions are hefty.

The Snooze

Step into The Snooze, a favorite of Denver-ites to fully understand just how seriously they can take the most important meal of the day. With menu options including three-egg omelet, corned beef hash, chicken-fried steak and eggs, Denver huevos rancheros, pineapple upside down pancakes and the infamous breakfast burrito, breakfast might be your only meal of the day. Snooze makes a conscious effort to be environmentally friendly, including recycling, composting, serving sustainably, locally grown organic food, employee education on sustainability and developing green power and building design. Denver loves The Snooze so much there are two locations--downtown and in Cherry Creek.

Gallop Cafe

Located in the heart of the charming Highlands neighborhood, the Gallop Cafe attracts families, couples and singles from all over the Denver area. Breakfast items include the original Colorado breakfast burrito smothered with cheese and green chili, cinnamon buns from the oven and hotcakes. A lighter fare of yogurt, fruit or bagels is also scrumptious. Be sure to go to the Gallop Cafe thirsty--the Bloody Marys come in generous portions, complete with spices, capers, celery and a side of a PBR chaser--the perfect thirst quencher before or after hitting a round of greens. The restaurant is local and family run, be sure to chat up the owner and thank him for creating a breakfast haven.
