If you find yourself in Bandera, Texas, on a hot summer day and swing clubs at Flying L Golf Course or the Bandera Ranch Resort, there is a chance you will be tired and thirsty by the end of the day. You will want to relax a bit, maybe take in some jukebox tunes and have a cold beer. If that sounds like a plan to you, Bandera, Texas, has you covered with a great selection of fun bars that feature cold beer, loud music and bullet holes in the walls.
11th Street Cowboy Bar
Legend has it that many a man died during wild bar fights here years ago. It is said that underwear used to hang freely from the light fixtures and that wild women of the night did just about anything to get themselves a handsome cowboy. That is all in the past. This bar is now known as "The Biggest Little Bar in Texas." It regularly features national and regional touring acts, and families are even welcome to join in the fun. Call ahead to ask when the next steak and chicken night is. On that night you will take your own meat to the bar and fire it up outside on a provided grill while enjoying live music and ice cold beer.

Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar Saloon
Arkey Blue is a famous country western singer that has been performing at this honky-tonk dance bar since 1968. On the right night you might notice an old hippy in the corner with a long grey ponytail. His name is Willie Nelson, and this is one of his favorite Texas haunts. If you are into regional Texas Country Music, keep an eye out for Charlie and Bruce Robison. They may even get up and treat you to a song. If Charlie is taking requests as he often does, ask for "El Cerrito Place." You won't be sorry. Bandera, Texas, is known as the cowboy capital of the world just because of places like this. Enjoy it after an afternoon of golf. Also, look for Willie Nelson on the course also. He loves golf.
