Luxury Hotels in Marlborough, New Zealand

Luxury Hotels in Marlborough, New Zealand
The Marlborough region of New Zealand sits at the top of New Zealand's south island. Marlborough is one of New Zealand's sunniest regions, which grants it the status of New Zealand's wine capital and a great golfing destination. Marlborough is a major starting point for vacations on New Zealand's south island since all ferries from the north island stop in Picton.

The Bec Spa Resort

At The Bec Spa Resort, choose from a selection of luxury suites. All suites are designed for two people, and include complimentary breakfast and the use of the spa pool and steam room. The different suites are similarly furnished; the main difference between suites is the view that comes with the room. For example, the Chagall and Ocean View suites offer a view of the ocean, while the Cloudy Bay suite provides views of local vineyards and the Richmond mountain range.

As implied by the name, The Bec Spa Resort features a full-service spa including Swedish massage, Thai massage, facials and yoga exercises, as well as a spa pool and steam room. Consider one of their package deals, which includes local activities such as tours of Marlborough's famous wineries, kayaking the sound, horseback riding or spotting wildlife. At nearby Marlborough Golf Club, you'll find a picturesque par 72, 18-hole golf course.

Punga Cove Resort

Punga Cove Resort is nestled among the forest alongside the visually stunning Queen Charlotte Sound. By car it's two hours north of Picton due to winding mountain roads, but resort staff can easily arrange a quick water taxi or helicopter transportation for you. Choose from a variety of luxury accommodations, including two-bedroom suites, chalets or queen rooms in the lodge.

Punga Cove Resort features a bar and restaurant serving up fresh Marlborough sound seafood, succulent New Zealand lamb and a fine selection of local wines and beers. Other resort amenities include swimming pool, spa, sauna, playground with trampoline and a barbecue area. Your closest opportunity for golfing would be the par 70, 9-hole course at the Picton Golf Club.

Sports Resort

At the Sports Resort you can choose from one-, two- or three-bedroom self-sufficient apartments, complete with living area, dining area, full kitchen and multiple bathrooms. The Sports Resort is located on Waikawa Bay off Queen Charlotte Sound and is five minutes by car from Picton. Hotel amenities include tennis courts, golf club rental, bicycle rental, barbecue area and hot tub.

Three golf courses are within 30 minutes of the resort, including the aforementioned Marlborough and Picton golf clubs, as well as the par 72, 18-hole Rarangi Golf Club. Other nearby attractions include an aquarium, miniature golf, fishing, boating and Marlborough's famous wineries.
