Hotels in Kinsale, Ireland
Kinsale--Irish for Head of the Sea--is a fishing port set on the West Cork coast of Ireland, a center for sailing, fishing and watersports. The close proximity to harbors and fresh local meats, dairy and produce make it a fine stop for gourmet dining. Kinsale's quality cuisine, four-star accommodations and its proximity to one of the most breathtaking golf courses in the world will ensure that travelers will be eager to return to this charming, scenic town.

Friar's Lodge

Winner of Lucinda O'Sullivan's 'Great Places to Stay and Eat' for 2009, Friar's Lodge offers four-star accommodations in the center of picturesque Kinsale. Rooms are fitted with televisions, DVD and CD players, broadband wireless Internet, iPod docking stations, mini bars and room safes to help enhance a stay. Bathrooms are en-suite and there is a provided golf club drying area, laundry service, car park and a delightfully large breakfast menu. Friar's Lodge staffers are happy to help book tee times and fishing trips and will pack a lunch for your endeavors when requested. Those wishing to stick around in the town center for the day can take advantage of a historical town stroll with tour guide Don Herlihy, each day at 11:15 a.m.

Located two miles north of the lodge is the Kinsale Golf Club, which provides two 18-hole courses to choose from--the Ringenane and the Farrangalway. The Farrangalway was recently constructed and is a challenging 18-hole course designed by Jack Kenneally. The Ringenane---the headland of the birds---offers a serene and scenic course overlooking the Belgooly River.
