Mexican Restaurants in Indianapolis
Indianapolis is a Midwestern cultural melting pot that offers a variety of multicultural cuisine, recreation and tourist activities. Home of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, this Midwestern hub has many golf courses and local restaurants nearby, including the Brickyard Crossing where players have four holes to play inside the famous motor speedway. Mexican restaurants are abundant, serving local favorites and specialty dishes.

Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant and Cantina

Located adjacent to Interstate 65, the Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant is a local five-star favorite for classic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant is open daily at 11 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. during the week and 10:30 p.m. on weekends. Local favorites include the Speedy Gonzalez lunch special, and the Mexican cheeseburger. The prices are quite modest, averaging $6 to $7 per person (2009). Puerto Vallarta has coupons available for half-price meals on its website. It is a short jog from Buffer Park, a local nine-hole golf course for anyone wanting to polish up her game.

Acapulco Joe's

Local Indianapolis immigrant Joe Rangel founded this establishment in the mid-1980s after illegally immigrating from Mexico. The restaurant has new owners, but the history and local atmosphere has stayed the same over the years. Just a block from the Indianapolis War Memorial, this establishment serves local favorites daily starting at 11 a.m. Favorite dishes include chili con queso and daily homestyle breakfast--biscuits and gravy--that shares a spot on the otherwise Mexican menu. Prices are economical averaging under $10 a person (2009), and Acapulco Joe's is a short drive to Broadmoor Country Club, which features a traditional Donald Ross designed golf course. It was home to the Senior PGA Tour from 1989 to 1993.
