All-Inclusive Resorts in South Andros Island, Bahamas
Unlike many of the more "touristy" islands of the Bahamas, South Andros Island is one of the quieter destinations, consciously practicing eco-tourism. Although this is the largest island in the Bahamas, the resorts here tend to be smaller. Even so, all-inclusive resorts can be found that offer opportunities for adventure, including snorkeling, fishing, scuba diving, swimming and cave spelunking. While golfing is not available on South Andros Island, fine courses are in nearby Nassau.

Tiamo Resort

Tiamo Resort is famous for following ecological practices to minimize the impact on the environment, otherwise known as sustainable tourism. All-inclusive rates at this resort cover accommodations, meals, drinks, airport/marina transfers, gym use and activities like canoeing, snorkeling trips, picnics and sailing (fishing not included). Rates in season (2009-2010) range from $425/night for an island cottage to $600/night for the honeymoon pool cottage. Off season, rates were $375 and $525 as of November 2009.

Andros Bay Cottage

For golfers who are also interested in bone-fishing, Andros Bay Cottage may be your choice. Their all-inclusive rates include accommodations, meals, drinks, fishing and bone-fish guides. Other activities available (some for an added fee) include swimming, snorkeling, crabbing (in season) and cave exploration. Rates are calculated per night stayed and per days fishing. In 2009-2001, they started at three nights' stay and two days' fishing for $1695/person.

Blue Shark Golf Club

While you won't find golf resorts or golf courses on the pristine South Andros Island, they can be found just a short boat ride away. Nassau is just 20 miles to the east of Andros Island, and it contains many popular golf courses. One of them is the Blue Shark Golf Club, a challenging Greg Norman course on a tropical landscape of trees, water and sand. It's definitely worth the boat ride from South Andros Island. Rates averaged $150 to $250 per round in November 2009.

Cable Beach Golf Club

Another option for golf when staying in South Andros Island is to travel to Cable Beach Golf Club in Nassau. The Fred Settle Jr.-designed course is challenging, but a bit less expensive than most, with a $35 twilight rate as of 2009. Regular rates start at just $50 per round.
