Zaphod Beeblebrox
This club--shortened to just "Zaphod's" by local residents--is named after a character in Douglas Adams' humorous classic, "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy." It's a haven for students from the nearby University of Ottawa, as well as hipsters and artists. The drinks, many of which are named after other items in Adams' book, are moderately priced. DJs spin indie music. There's no dress code and a low cover charge, making this establishment a casual affair if you just want to chill or dance without the pretentious atmosphere found at some other clubs.

Tila Tequila
Tila Tequila's theme is "always spring break," and a visit on any weekend fulfills this anthemic motto. The dance floor is small, but always crowded as DJs spin the latest Top 40 and hip-hop hits. A stage suspended over the dance floor is prime for go-go dancers, a regular fixture in the nightclub, or girls who just want to give a show. Two full bars ensure you're never thirsty, with the club's namesake tequila shots always in ready availability.

Barrymore's Music Hall
Barrymore's is found on Bank Street, 30 minutes' walking from the Byward Market area where most of Ottawa's nightclubs are found. It's best known for its themed nights, including its weekly '80s music parties. DJs blast your favorite throwback hits while projectors shoot trippy videos and visualizers onto large screens linining the walls. A separate lounge area lets you get away from the madness to enjoy a cocktail or cheep bear.
