Burlington, Vermont, Vegan Restaurants
Burlington, Vermont, is on the shores of the beautiful Lake Champlain in northern New England and is a popular year-round travel destination. Although Vermont is well-known for its milk and cheese (along with maple syrup), vegans visiting the Burlington area will find plenty of restaurants serving tasty vegan food.

Penny Cluse Cafe

Penny Cluse is a popular cafe at the corner of South Winooski Avenue and Cherry Street in the heart of Burlington. Penny Cluse offers a variety of vegan foods and has a particularly good breakfast. The tofu scramble, vegan pancakes and soy sausages are favorites of many area vegans. Penny Cluse also offers a chance to take in the local scenery thanks to large glass windows throughout the dining area.

Zabby's Stone Soup

Zabby's Stone Soup is a cozy and intimate restaurant that specializes in serving delicious vegan soups and breads, in addition to other vegan and vegetarian items. The restaurant has a cozy and warm atmosphere that complements the delicious soup. The bread is freshly baked on site. The menu changes daily, though. So call ahead, or better yet, visit often.

During the summer months, many local vegetarians and vegans head to the downtown pedestrian mall to track down one of the delicious veggie rolls served at Glori Nori. Glori Nori is a restaurant on wheels, a moveable cart that serves food all up and down the mall. You can find Glori Nori on the mall during the spring and summer months.

Five Spice Cafe

Five Spice Cafe is on the corner of King and Church streets and is considered by many locals to be the Asian place in town. Vegan customers will be happy to know that nearly every meat item can be "veganized" by substituting either seasoned tempeh, tofu or seitan.
