Cleveland, Ohio, located in the great Western Reserve of open land that the new nation absorbed in 1796, was a financial and social center throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. This heritage is seen in the historic structures still standing in the downtown. Take a break from the greens to listen to the Cleveland Orchestra or tour the city's museums of art, natural history, and cultural exhibits at the African American Museum. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is also located in the downtown area. The city has numerous historic hotels, many within walking distance of these attractions.

Renaissance Cleveland Hotel

The Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, now part of the Marriott group, features 441 rooms and 50 suites with marble inlaid bathrooms complete with jacuzzis, high-speed Internet access and desks with work lamps. The hotel was originally constructed in 1915 and has undergone numerous transformations, including an addition allowing access to a rapid transit system. The Renaissance Cleveland has a fitness center and an indoor pool located on the top floor atrium. Members of the hotel's Renaissance Club are offered hors d'oeuvres in the evening and breakfast each morning as part of an optional membership club for frequent guests. The hotel has a complete non-smoking policy for all rooms and public areas. Rooms with city and Public Square views are available. Request a view room when you make reservations.

Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade

The Arcade, a Hyatt Regency hotel in Cleveland, was opened in 2001 in the historic Old Cleveland Arcade building constructed in 1880. After an $60 million renovation that took 18 months to complete, the current guest accommodations offer vaulted ceiling guest rooms complete with high-speed Internet access, work desks with lamps, and special Hyatt Grand Beds. Dining at the hotel includes the 1890 at the Arcade, 1890 Lounge and an Arcade food court. The hotel has a gym, trails for walking and jogging, and a number of shops and boutiques located in the Arcade.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in downtown Cleveland occupies the former Guardian Bank Building constructed in the 19th century. Located in the city's financial district close to the sports arenas, night clubs and Cleveland State University. The large guest rooms feature high-speed Internet services. Suites have jacuzzis and kitchenettes. An 800-space parking garage is located next to the hotel and guests may use the facility for a fee of $12 a day, with entrance and exit privileges.

The Glidden House

The Glidden House Inn offers 60 rooms on three floors. The mansion was originally built in 1910 for the Glidden family. It is located on the Case Western Reserve University campus in the heart of downtown Cleveland. Many of the rooms have built-in wet bars. Guest rooms include a mini-refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, 42-inch plasma television set, hair dryer, high-count cotton bedding and high-speed wireless Internet service. The inn also offers valet and laundry services, complimentary morning newspaper, iron and ironing board, free parking and room service. On-site food service is provided by Sergio's, a restaurant operating from the original carriage house. Sergio's serves Brazilian food and seafood dishes. Breakfast, a light offering of seasonal fruits and cereals, is included in the room fee.
