Golfers are often attracted to the Arlington, Texas area for its extensive variety of golf courses such as the Tierra Verde Course, the Shady Valley Course and the Lake Arlington Course. Golfers who travel with their families often like to break away to the local Six Flags theme park in Arlington for a full day of family fun on the park's large roller coasters and thrilling rides. If you are traveling to the Arlington area, there are several local restaurants that offer a variety of cuisine and atmosphere, all of them less than a mile from Six Flags over Texas in Arlington.

Saltgrass Steak House

The Saltgrass Steak House is just across the street from the north end of the park, just across Interstate 30. The Saltgrass chain of restaurants was given the Silver Award from the SA Entertainment Reader's Choice Awards in 2009, and it was rated the number four steakhouse in America by Consumer's Reports. Offering premium steaks and chicken at affordable family prices, Saltgrass Steak House pairs its quality entrees with made-from-scratch side items such as its famous soups and homemade salad dressings. The atmosphere speaks of its Southern cowboy roots with ranch-style decor spread throughout the restaurant. Both a take-out menu and a kid's menu are available upon request, and dinner prices average approximately $15 per plate.

Romano's Macaroni Grill

Romano's Macaroni Grill is located just a half mile from Six Flags and offers traditional Italian cuisine. Menu offerings include crab stuffed mushrooms, Parmesan-crusted chicken and pasta Milan. The atmosphere of the restaurant is family friendly, and kid's menus are readily available. Romano's Macaroni Grill often hosts special limited time menu selections such as a "make-your-own pasta" special. Prices vary but average approximately $12 per plate. Reservations are not needed and a take-out option is available.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Dickey's Barbecue Pit is approximately 1.5 miles from Six Flags, and it is one of the few restaurants in Arlington, Texas that offers Texas-style barbecue in the form of sausage, chicken, turkey, brisket, pork, ham and ribs. According to the Dickey's website, all of the meats are slow-smoked to be "finger licking" good. Catering and take-out is available, but most patrons choose to experience the famous Dickey's barbecue sauce by dining inside of the restaurant. Reservations are not needed for Dickey's, and prices average approximately $10 per plate lunch or dinner.
