Vereen Memorial Park and Gardens, at Routes 17 and 179, features numerous pathways and classic wooden boardwalks over the salt marshes and miniature islands. There is also a gazebo that overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and a wide observation deck that extends into the waterway.

The summer concert series at McLean Park in North Myrtle Beach is also free. The concert is 7 to 9 p.m. the third Friday of each month from May until September. Music ranges from jazz to oldies to contemporary. Bring a picnic basket and sit on the lawn or lawn chairs.
