Pensacola, Florida Attractions

Pensacola, Florida Attractions
Pensacola is a laid-back town in the Florida Panhandle that offers tourists the chance to soak in the sun on the beach, watch the Navy's Blue Angels soar through sky as they practice for air shows, and learn about aviation history at the National Museum of Naval Aviation. Pensacola also follows the rest of Florida in having a love affair of golf. The Pensacola Open used to be a stop on the PGA tour and US Open champ Jerry Pate calls Pensacola his hometown. Marcus Pointe Golf Club and Scenic Hills Country Club are just two of the many courses that can be found here. After sinking that final ball, check out what else Pensacola has to offer tourists.

Seville Quarter

Seville Quarter is the number one site for nighttime entertainment in Pensacola. Rosie O'Grady's is the cornerstone for several different nightclubs under one roof that offer a little something for everyone. Golfers will especially be interested in checking out Jerry Pate's US Open-winning 5-iron on display inside Fast Eddie's billiard parlor. Seville Quarter provides a place to get a drink, something to eat, get out on the dance floor, and listen to Dixieland jazz.

McGuire's Irish Pub

If a tourist had to pick just one restaurant in Pensacola to visit, it would probably have to be McGuire's Irish Pub. As soon you enter the premises you will see autographed photos of all the famous celebrities who've come to town over the decades and made this decision. You'll also notice all the dollar bills hanging from the ceiling. Those dollars bills must be taken down individually every year and counted for tax purposes. While enjoying the friendly Irish pub experience and looking around at all the wild decor, feast on the biggest hamburgers in town.

T.T. Wentworth Museum

Pensacola was the very first European settlement in the New World and as such is very rich in history. This museum features a collection that reveals why Pensacola is known as the City of Five Flags with memorabilia and collectibles that relate to each of the five governments to which it has shown allegiance over the centuries. While the historical collections are certainly worthwhile, most people tend to walk away from the Wentworth Museum remembering its more offbeat, even eccentric, displays such as the mummified cat, shrunken head, and small part of Thomas Edison's birthday cake.
