Located on the outskirts of Pensacola, the Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport (PNS) is served by regional jets or 737s from commercial carriers AirTran, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United and US Airways. Located 42 miles east of Pensacola, Valparaiso Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) is served with regional jets from commercial carriers American, Continental, Delta, Northwest and US Airways. VPS, which sits adjacent to Elgin Air Force Base, has rental car desks for most major agencies, including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, National and Thrifty. Passengers are served by a single terminal, and the airport has two parallel runways, the longest of which is 8,502 feet. Located 185 miles west of Pensacola, New Orleans International Airport (MSY), which was renamed the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in the early 2000s, is serviced by most major and discount commercial carriers. It also welcomes private planes in a separate terminal area. There is a single passenger terminal with four concourses, and international charter flights from Mexico arrive in Terminal C. Private planes are serviced in a separate terminal area. The airport has three runways, the longest of which is 10,104 feet.
