Monterey Peninsula Airport
Located in Monterey, the Carmel/Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY) is served by commercial airlines Allegiant, American, United and US Airways and is open to private planes. There are two parallel runways, serving more than 40 commercial flights daily. The longest runway is 7,000 feet. There are 211 hangar and tiedown areas and the airport has 55 business tenants. San Jose International Airport
Located 52 miles north of Monterey in the heart of Silicon Valley, the San Jose International Airport (SJC) is served by major commercial and discount airlines and rental car agencies. Taxis, limos and shuttles are also available on the first floor near the baggage claim area. The airport has 36 gates for domestic flights in two terminals and international flights arrive at Terminal A. The airport has a separate terminal area with services for private planes. The airport began a $1.8 billion renovation in 2007 that will include upgrades to the current terminals, a new Terminal B and upgrades to roadways, parking and the rental-car area. The improvements are scheduled to be completed in late 2010.

Located 75 miles north of Monterey, the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is among the largest airports in the U.S. and is among the 30 busiest airports in the world. A major jumping off point for flights to Asia, SFO is served by most major and discount commercial carriers as well as major rental car agencies. Taxis, limos and local buses are available on the ground level near baggage claim and the local rapid-transit system (BART) has an airport station. The airport, which is a regional hub for United Airlines, has four terminals with 102 gates, including an international terminal that is regarded as one of the most sophisticated in the U.S. Private planes may land at SFO and have a separate terminal area and services available.

Oakland International Airport
Located 80 miles northeast of Monterey, The Oakland International Airport (OAK) is the second-busiest airport in the San Francisco Bay area and it primarily serves San Francisco's East Bay communities. Since 2004, the airport has been undergoing an extensive renovation to upgrade its terminals and roadways. OAK is served by most major and discount airlines as well as most major rental-car agencies. Taxis, limos and shuttles are available on the ground floor of the airport, where you'll also find the AirBART bus, which links the airport with the local rapid transit system. Private planes may land at OAK and there is a separate terminal where services are available.
