Introduction
Welcome to GolfLink.com. My name is Sandy LaBauve. I am a teaching professional at Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona and have been teaching golf for close to twenty years. I enjoy teaching all levels of players but am probably best known for my work with women and junior golfers. Most of my instruction will naturally be targeted toward you!
I started playing golf when I was 14 to be able to spend more time with my family. My dad, Jack Lumpkin and mom brought me into the game. (You can tune into tips from Jack right here on GolfLink.com as well). My dad knew the mechanics, and my mom knew the games to make practicing fun. That's where I got my basics to teach. I want you to have fun while learning to play better golf.
After playing on a boys high school golf team, I went to on to
play college at University of Georgia. I loved being able to travel
around the country playing golf, while I got an education. If you
are an aspiring junior player, keep up your hard work, it's worth
it! Golf scholarships are all around you. Coaches are always looking
for good players with potential. Check out the Ping College Golf
GuideBook if you don't believe me.
Now I'm married to Mike LaBauve, also a GolfLink.com Instructor and have 2 daughters. Lindy is 13 and Kristi is 10. You'll probably
meet them in some of my tips. Who knows where they will go with
this game, but I want them to play first for fun. I long for the
days when we make golf trips and have the family foursome as part
of our vacations.
I am fortunate to be one of 4 women who serves on the Titleist
and Foot Joy Women's Advisory Board. I get to help review new products
for women and juniors. It's awesome to be on the cutting edge of
new equipment.
At Kierland, I teach mostly private lessons and clinics. Occasionally,
I travel and teach corporate outings. Wherever
I am, I love being with people who want to learn to play better
golf. It's rewarding to take a person who has never held a club
and teach them to play. I like the challenges, and I sympathize
with the frustrations, for I have been there myself. I also love
helping more experienced players take their game to a new level.
I stay positive and always look for what you are doing right first.
Teaching golf is more that just my job, it's a passion. I help you and you get better. We all win and we all have fun. I look forward to being with you here on GolfLink.com.
