Dear Fellow Golfers,
I am extremely happy to introduce my newest golf training center located in Ft. Worth, Texas at Waterchase. My entire team is very excited about our relationship with "The Links at Waterchase" championship golf course (7,300 yards from the back tees), which connects to my range and practice golf course. Together we will have one of the best total game instruction and golf course facilities in the country, which will be operating 365 days a year.
The Practice Course
The Fazio team and Jim McLean created a highly imaginative design for this unique practice facility. Although there are 9 par three's measuring 1,478 yards, the idea was not to build a par 3 golf course. The idea was a true practice. Jim and Tom Fazio talked at length about intersecting holes, back and forth fairways and a central practice fairway. They created four basic driving zones separated by water hazards or mounding. This allows on course playing lessons that include drivers being hit in different directions to very different fairway designs. The student will face almost any situation. From the central practice fairway iron shots can be played to 7 different greens. Of course the instructors at the McLean School can also use the Links at Waterchase standing adjacent to the practice course. The Links at Waterchase measures 7,300 yards from the championship tees and has hosted two Texas Opens. In the 22.5 acres Fazio and McLean designed a practice dream for any golfer wanting real life situations.
The Range
The Range has been totally redesigned by the Fazio design team and Jim McLean. It will feature six beautiful target greens and strategically situated trees. The range tee stretches 160 yards across. Andy Banfield who has been with Tom Fazio for over 20 years has contributed many great ides that were implemented by the original construction team at the Links at Waterchase. This team led by Don Henderson of Land Constructors is creating one of the most well thought out ranges anywhere in America.
The Shortgame Area
To complete the best possible total game practice facility, Jim has created 3 scoring zones that total almost 50,000 sq feet of shortgame practice area. This includes a huge putting green, a chipping area, and a place to practice all types of pitch shots and bunker shots. The shortgame area was shaped by Doug Mathis of Heritage Links who was recommended by Andy Banfield of Fazio Golf Design.
We also have an 8,000 square foot clubhouse with our state of the art Superstation, a fully furnished fitness center and specialized club fitting that puts this facility in a very elite class. Our students will have access to all the same amenities a tour player would have at a PGA tour event including the physical trainers and therapists. It's all being put together and built right now.
I am very exited to have a school in Texas since I have so many fond memories of my years at the University of Houston. One of my very best friends, Bruce Lietzke, lives in Dallas. My all-time favorite mentor, Jackie Burke, is a Ft. Worth native. I will be at Waterchase often as my son is attending TCU and is playing on the golf team this year as a freshman.
One of my Master Instructors, Brian Schorsten, is setting up the Waterchase project and is now available for private lessons. Brian spent one full year as my personal assistant doing every lesson, clinic and school with me. He knows my system inside and out. It will take us a few months to get this facility up to our standards and longer to get the golf course in good shape. Brian, and others on my staff, are working 7 days per week. He is giving golf lessons in between about 100 other duties. However, I can report that he loves Waterchase and Texas.
The Jim McLean Golf Training Center is located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, only 20 minutes from DFW airport. It is centrally located and easy to get to from anywhere in the Metroplex. We are just off of I-30 which connects Dallas and Ft. Worth. Whenever you're in Texas, come visit us and experience our undisputed #1 Golf School in America.
