Dear Fellow Golfer:

Thank you for your interest in the Jim McLean Golf School at Doral. Our goal is to provide the absolute best in golf instruction. Our entire professional staff is committed to this ideal. This commitment has been recognized by U.S World and News Report, CNN, Travel and Leisure Magazine. These publications have ranked us as the #1 Golf School in America. We are proud of this ranking but also very determined to keep improving.

In 1991, when Jim opened his golf school at Doral, he realized that to achieve his dream of owning a world class golf school he must have three key components: a world class facility, the best trained instructors, and fully satisfied customers - students who were treated great and improved! To further this goal we use Jim's proven and proprietary 8-Step Swingsm Teaching System.

The Doral is first class in every respect. This self-contained resort hotel and internationally renowned Five Star Saturnia Spa features over 650 luxurious guest rooms and suites, six restaurants and an array of amenities. KSL Recreation has invested more than $75 million into renovating the hotel. Doral has 90 sensational holes of golf with the "Blue Monster" course as its crown jewel. Jim himself redesigned the course. The PGA Tour's Ford Championship is held on the Blue Monster. Greg Norman redesigned the White Course in 2000 and made it a tremendously challenging and distinctive layout.

When you attend a golf school at Doral you will be training at one of the top facilities in the United States. Jim has created a hyper learning atmosphere at our Doral School. We have a 2,500 sq. ft. Super Station, which houses our computer and video technology. In the 13 years our school has been at Doral, we have upgraded our computer software program eight times. Our current software allows us to email and store our students' swings on command. The Doral facility also includes a full array of teaching aids, swing training devices, a Performance Platform to simulate uneven lies, a 30 yard long practice bunker, putting and chipping green and a pitching area. We have even created targets on our range so students can work more efficiently on their tee shots.

The JMGS Master Instructors are the best in the business. Many of these elite golf professionals have been working with Jim for at least 6 years. Our instructors are full-time teaching professionals. In the summer, some of these professionals assume the Director of Instruction position at prestigious golf clubs like Caves Valley, Baltusrol GC, Inverness Club, and Muirfield GC to name a few. All of our instructors have successfully passed Jim's rigorous training requirements. This includes: a minimum one-year apprenticeship, completion of the JMGS Instructor Exam (this takes six weeks to complete), and mandatory attendance of our weekly staff trainings.

Our professionals are super competent at teaching every facet of Jim McLean's System. This includes the short game, long game, course management and the mental side of the game. When you visit our school you will know within minutes that you have made the right choice in golf instruction.

Jim's bottom line has always been "Do the students improve?' And the resounding answer is yes. Every student leaves our school with a detailed action plan for improvement. Plus, we keep records of all our students' lessons. When you attend a Jim McLean Golf School your learning process will not only be rewarding but fun. At the end of every school, students fill out an evaluation form grading the instructors and the overall school experience. Since 1991, our cumulative average on a scale of 1 to 10 has been over 9.0!

On behalf of Jim McLean and our entire staff of professionals, I hope you will make the time to visit us. It is our primary concern to help you play the game better.

Most sincerely,

Christopher Toulson
Corporate Director of Instruction

Swing Plane Using a hula hoop we can simply define the concept of swing plane and how a circular golf swing must function to hit the ball consistently straight
Scoring Zone The area from 150 yards and in is called the scoring zone because by far the majority of golf shots come from inside that zone, so having good irons and working on this part of your game will have the greatest effect on your scores
The High Soft Flop Shot Hitting a flop shot off a tight lie requires that you attack the ball with a steeper swing and open clubface so that the club gets under the ball and pops it up softly
