An instructional program is only as strong as the instructors directing it. Mike McGetrick personally selects and trains his staff of golf professionals and places an emphasis on both teaching and playing skills. His award-winning ideas are easy to understand. Mike is the 1999 National PGA Teacher of the Year and is an instruction editor with Golf Digest. Golf Digest ranks Mike the number 1 teacher in the state of Colorado and he is number 8 on their list of America's 50 Greatest Teachers. Not only is Mike recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 teaching professionals in America, but the McGetrick Golf Academy has been a Golf Magazine Top 25 Golf School since 1997.

Our instructors go to school too. The McGetrick Golf Academy teaching staff keeps up to date on the latest developments in training and performance technology. We regularly consult with leading sports psychologists, conditioning experts, biomechanical researchers and other leaders in the golf industry to gain new insights into golf performance and in turn pass them on to you.

Mike McGetrick - Owner
Over the past 20 years Mike McGetrick has become one of America's premier golf instructors. Mike's reputation developed as a result of the thousands of golfers who have successfully improved their games at his award-winning golf academy, in addition to the recognition he's received from industry leaders and his peers.

Mike is the 1999 National PGA Teacher of the Year, and a five-time Colorado PGA Teacher of the Year. He is a featured instruction editor for Golf Digest magazine, was voted number eight of Golf Digest's America's 50 Greatest Teachers, as well as number one in the state of Colorado. Mike has been recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 Teaching.

Professionals in America since 1991. Mike makes regular appearances on The Golf Channel and he has authored a book titled The Scrambler's Dozen - 12 Shots Every Golfer Needs To Score Like The Pros. Mike coaches men, women, seniors and junior golfers of all ages and abilities. While the majority of Mike's teaching takes place with amateur golfers, he coaches players on the PGA and LPGA Tours who have a combined total of 43 worldwide wins and 9 Major Championships. Notable students include: Juli Inkster, Meg Mallon, Beth Daniel, Wendy Ward and Brandt Jobe.

Lana Ortega - Director of Instruction
Lana has spent the McGetrick ten years working with Mike McGetrick at the McGetrick Golf Academy in Denver, Colorado where she is currently the Director of Instruction. Lana is Class A member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division and a graduate of the University of Iowa. Lana is an accomplished teacher and author of instruction articles for several national and regional publications.

Lana is a senior instruction editor for GolfTips Magazine and her work regularly appears in GolfTips, Golf For Women magazine, The Denver Post and Colorado Avid Golfer. Lana is a member of the Golf For Women magazine instruction panel, and she has been selected as one of Golf For Women's "Top 50 Teachers". Lana teaches a wide range of golfers including players on the LPGA Tour, LPGA and PGA club professionals, collegiate golfers and amateur men and women of all abilities.

Scott Hofer - Staff Instructor
Scotty is a PGA Member with 12 years teaching experience and is a lead instructor at the McGetrick Golf Academy. His undergraduate studies were at Pan American University and he received Masters and Juris Doctorate degrees at The University of South Dakota. Scotty has authored works in The Golfer magazine and other local and regional publications. Scotty is an accomplished player as well, having competed for a time on the Dakotas mini-tour.

Mark Crabtree - Staff Instructor
Mark Crabtree is an instructor with over 14 years of valuable teaching experience. He worked several years teaching with John Jacobs in his golf schools and spent some time instructing in such places as Mexico, Ireland, Hong Kong and China. Mark also instructed with Top 100 instructors, Shelby Futch, Todd Sones, and Don Crawley at their teaching facilities. During his years of teaching he has worked with clients such as Tommy Smothers, James McArthur, as well as many professional athletes, celebrities, and prominent business clients.

Mark is a graduate of Cameron University, with a B.S. degree in Physical Education. He was a member of the 1983 NAIA National Championship golf team. In traveling throughout the United States, Mark has placed within the top 10 in several tournaments including a win in the 1986 US Open local qualifying tournament. He also has top tournament finishes in the Arizona PGA Section.

John Cregan - Staff Instructor
John Cregan is a 15 year Class A Member of the PGA of America and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. An accomplished player, John competed on the PGA Tour in 1982 and qualified for the 1983 US Open at Oakmont, Pennsylvania. He has also qualified for 3 PGA Club Pro Championships, the major event for PGA Members. Recently John re-located from Dallas Texas.

He has worked with many players on the Developmental, Canadian, and European tours. John has also coached junior golfers who have earned full golf scholarships to Division I schools. He has written several articles for Texas Golfer Magazine and Avid Golfer Texas.

Eli Haskell - Staff Instructor
Eli Haskell is a licensed Physical Therapist and is a skilled golf instructor. Utilizing a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University, he became a biomechanics specialist and has spent the McGetrick four years working exclusively with golfers on fitness programs to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance while eliminating pain and injury associated with golf.

His background enables him to accurately assess each golfer's physical makeup and then determine a course of action, either through swing mechanics or physical exercises to allow each golfer's body to swing the most efficient way possible. Most of his students are either interested in making long term improvements to both their golf swings and their physical ability to perform at their best, or they are trying to eliminate pain and injury either during or after golf. Eli has authored many articles in local golf publications such as Colorado Avid Golfer, and Golf Views regarding fitness as it pertains to golf.

Jack Small - Staff Instructor
Jack Small is a PGA Class A member with 22 years experience as a golf professional and teaching professional. Jack is a graduate of Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. Jack is an accomplished player having competed at the college level. He has participated in Arizona State Opens as well as Southern California Players Series. Jack is a certified club fitter with Titleist and Henry-Griffitts. He has written golf tips for the Arizona Daily Star and other Southern Arizona golf publications. Jack has always been involved in junior golf having participated as an instructor in several clinics at local and sectional levels. Jack has taught high-level AJGA participants, various college level players, and NCAA second team All American.

Stan Sayers - Staff Instructor
Stan Sayers has earned the reputation of being one of the countries premier golf instructors and custom club fitting experts for Henry-Griffitts Inc. and Titleist/Cobra. His custom fitting clients include PGA & LPGA Tour professionals, PGA & LPGA club professionals and top amateurs. Stan, a class A PGA member, has provided golf instruction for over 20 years and instructs golf professionals in the art of club fitting. Stan is married, and living in Littleton, CO with his wife Lynda and their two children Bethany and Lauren. Stan has helped countless golfers elevate their golf games to a higher level. His students include local and national junior champions and Denver Bronco MVP Terrell Davis. He is a recipient of the Henry-Griffitts Professional Club Fitter Award and has been elected to the Consumer Research Council's "Top Golf Instructors in the Country." Colorado Avid Golfer and The Rocky Mountain News featured Stan regarding his club fitting knowledge. He currently coaches Gary Hallberg and is the volunteer coach for the CU golf team.

Elena King - Staff Instructor
Elena is a member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division and a graduate of the University of Iowa. Elena is an accomplished player with many individual titles as an amateur and a professional. She was Captain three years at the University of Iowa and a Big Ten All-American. As a professional she played on the WPGT, Futures Tour and the Asian Tour. Elena has worked with several nationally know instructors, including Butch Harmon, LPGA Hall of Fame instructor Joanne Winter, and most recently Golf for Women Top 50 teacher Lana Ortega.

Elena has a wide range of instructional experience. This includes organizing and instructing junior camps at the University of Iowa, three years of individual instruction at Quail Run Golf Club, Naples, FL, and eight years at The Golf Learning Center, in Itasca, IL. Instruction at The Golf Learning Center included individual lessons, corporate clinics, junior clinics, golf schools and highly specialized short game schools.

Elena offers a comprehensive approach to the game. Her extensive competitive playing experience combined with her instructional knowledge will elevate your skill level and increase your total knowledge of the game. She is dedicated to providing the expertise and thought process necessary to achieve your individual goals in a positive way.

Joe Egnoski - Professional Merchandiser/ Club Fitter
Joe is a factory trained professional custom club fitter. He has been in the golf club business for the McGetrick 5 years. He has experience and training in fitting most of the major equipment manufacturers including: Callaway, Cleveland, Cobra, Dimension Z, Henry-Griffitts, MacGregor, Mizuno, Ping, TaylorMade, and Titleist. Joe fits clubs not only using his extensive knowledge of the latest club heads and shaft technology but by using the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment (Distance Caddy, Launch Monitor & Video Analysis Equipment) Joe analyses the data to provide each student a personalized custom fit. His custom fitting clients include PGA and LPGA touring professionals, collegiate players, AJGA players, top amateurs, as well as, the casual golfer just looking to have more fun.

Stacy Montgomery - Fitness Director
Stacy Montgomery trains golfers of all ability levels using a unique and progressive approach to improving fitness and performance. She has been a personal trainer for 14 years, focusing on golf-specific fitness for the past seven. Stacy is passionate about helping golfers improve their game and quality of life.

Stacy has a degree from the University of Minnesota, is certified by the American Council on Exercise, is an IDEA Master Level Trainer and has a nutrition consultation certificate. She was nominated as Trainer of the Year in 2003 and was noted as one of the nation's top trainers in the March 2003 issue of Self Magazine. Stacy has also been featured in Colorado Avid Golfer, GolfViews Magazine, Cooking Light Magazine and the Denver Post. Additionally, she is an experienced speaker at golf-related events.
