Steve Bann

Introduction

Steven Bann is one of Australia's most respected golf coaches and was just awarded the 2006 Victorian PGA Coach of the Year.

Steven established the Victorian Institute of Sport's Golf Program and spent six years as its Head Coach. The VIS program has had 9 graduates get their US Tour cards and currently has 5 graduates in the world top 100.

He coaches Stuart Appleby, of one of the world's best young golfers who plays on the US PGA Tour, and travels regularly to join him at the majors. Steve is also currently coaching PGA Tour Player K.J. Choi.

Another student of Steve's is Nick Flanagan, the 2003 U.S. Amateur Champion. Steve also coached Robert Allenby for 18 years and 16 worldwide victories. During the 2000 - 2001 period that Steve was teaching him, Robert was one of only three golfers to have multiple victories on the PGA Tour.

Steven turned professional in 1981 and competed on the Australian circuit full time for five years. He began teaching in 1985 after accepting the position of Resident Professional at the Box Hill Golf Club in Melbourne. Steven continued to play part time until 1995 with top ten finishes in the Australian Masters, Open and PGA events. Steven is the co-founder of Bann Lynch Golf which he founded with Australia's other top instructor, Dale Lynch.
