Ty Andersen

Hi, I am Ty Andersen and I am proud to say I am a member of the PGA and I have been for the last fifteen years. Prior to that I am also proud to say that I served my country in the United States Air Force for over twenty years. I was very fortunate to retire as a Lieutenant Colonel, but when it came time to retire I went with my second love which is the game of golf. I love working with people and I love being around the game of golf and I can play the game of golf pretty well so becoming a PGA Professional was the next step for me.

About eight years ago I got involved with a very special project just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, it is called Little Thunder. Little Thunder was the first eighteen hole championship caliber golf course built in the United States specifically for kids six to twelve years old. That is where I first learned how to work with kids. It was a great project. About for years ago I came down here to Naples, Florida to work on the growth of the game initiative in support of the PGA of America and World Golf Foundation’s efforts to grow the game of golf, and that is where I have been ever since. My passion is working with kids. I have seven programs registered with Play Golf America, six of them involve kids. I have an in school program, an afternoon program, and I do private lessons, and last year I did clinics and worked with over 39,000 kids here in Collier County. That is a lot of kids and I have had a lot of experience doing that.

I have also been very fortunate by working with the kids that within the last two years I won several awards. I have been appointed as the South Florida PGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year two years ago, last year I was the first recipient of the PGA President Plaque here in South Florida, the last two years I have been appointed to the PGA President’s Council on the Growth of the Game, an the top honor of all as far as I am concerned is that I have been selected as one of the Top 50 Kids Instructors in the United States by the US Kids Golf Company. To me those are big things, but more importantly than just receiving those awards, whenever I get an award I say the same thing. I appreciate it but what it does is that it lends more credibility to what I am doing, and that is grow the game of golf through the kids. The kids are our future and I am going to continue to work with them and I would love the chance to work with your son or daughter.
