How Do I Properly Plan for a Successful Las Vegas Golf Vacation?
By Jackson Lewis
Golfers travel to Las Vegas during the fall, winter and spring to enjoy the temperate weather and wide variety of golf courses. The golf courses in the Vegas area range in difficulty, and are decently priced when you book tee times through a golf package. In order to best enjoy your golf vacation in Las Vegas, plan your trip ahead of time to ensure you see some of the other sights that make Las Vegas a fun vacation destination in addition to playing some great golf courses.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Decide if you are going to bring your own golf clubs or rent them from the golf courses you intend to play on your trip. Many golfers base this decision on the number of rounds they plan to play during the vacation. If you plan on playing only one round of golf while you're in Las Vegas, rent a set of clubs at the course instead of paying extra to bring your clubs on the airplane. If you do fly with your clubs, buy or borrow a golf travel case or bag to protect your clubs during the flight.
Base your choice of hotel accommodations on the inclusive golf package deals they offer. Instead of picking a two star motel and booking your own green fees, it can be cheaper to stay at a four or five star hotel that offers significant discounts through partner golf courses in the area. For example, the Mirage Hotel commonly offers discounts of up to 40 percent off of greens fees at Desert Pines Golf Course, the Bali Hai and Royal Golf Clubs when staying three or more nights at the hotel.
Verify whether your hotel or resort can book discounted tee times or packages at non-partner golf courses if you intend on playing courses that are not affiliated with your hotel. Although most of the resorts have relationships with two or more golf courses, you may wish to play a greater number of courses in the area. The resort may book arrangements on non-partner golf courses for you at a discount.
Ask your hotel or resort if they provide free transportation to golf courses included in your golf vacation package. If the resort provides transportation to and from the golf course, you will not need to rent a vehicle during your vacation to Las Vegas, which will reduce the cost of your trip.
Reserve or book your tee times through the hotel or resort prior to arriving in Las Vegas. Even if you buy an all-inclusive golf package, you will still need to reserve tee times to ensure you can play the desired course at the time of day you want to enjoy the links.
