How to Find Last Minute Deals on Airline Tickets
By Clint Hale
When a golf getaway or vacation pops up at the last minute, so too does the task of securing a last-minute deal on airline travel. Fortunately, there are a bevy of resources at traveling golfers' disposal when it comes to tracking, locating and booking last-minute deals on airline tickets.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Use the Internet. The web has made numerous tasks more convenient, perhaps none more so than finding and booking travel. Websites such as LastMinuteTravel.com and LastMinute.com focus specifically on providing information on the latest travel deals to a plethora of vacation spots. Other online travel sites, such as Orbitz.com and Hotwire.com, feature sections devoted exclusively to last-minute travel deals.
Contact the airlines directly, either by phone or through their website. Most airlines are known for slashing rates at the last minute in the hopes of filling non-capacity flights---after all, an empty seat means no money at all for the airline. Most airlines' websites feature up-to-minute rates and information on soon-to-depart flights.
Hire a travel agent. These professionals specialize in tracking and booking last-minute travel. While this may cost you more up front---due to travel agent rates and commission---hiring a travel agent may still save you money if you simply don't have the time to hunt for a deal.
