Planning a Disney Vacation
By Timothy Sexton
Planning a vacation to Disney's theme parks requires a fair amount of planning to get the most of out it. You should concentrate quite a bit on what you hope to get out of a vacation. Disney World especially has much to offer the visitor and it can be overwhelming if you arrive in Orlando without a plan. A plan is doubly important if you are also hoping to get some time on Disney World's five golf courses as these links are popular among the locals as well as tourists.

Difficulty: Moderate
Decide whether it makes more sense to travel to California or Orlando. While Disney World in Orlando certainly has more attractions than Disneyland and California Adventure, if you are closer to the West Coast than the East Coast, you'll may want to give up the extensive list of things to do in favor of convenience. For a golf vacation at Disney, however, nothing beat Disney World.
Make the decision to stay inside the park at Disney World for a golf vacation. Not only is it more convenient to stay inside the park than outside, but resort guests also enjoy perks like lower green fees and even free transport of your clubs from one Disney course to another.
Choose your Disney World resort based on how much golfing you'll do. If you only plan to hit one of Disney's five golf courses then any resort will do. If, however, you plan on making golf as much as part of the trip as the theme parks then certain resorts are more convenient. Saratoga Springs is situated right next to the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. Other resorts that place you closer to the courses include the super-expensive Grand Floridian and the beautiful Polynesian Resort.
Pick the right time to take a Disney vacation. Summer is always going to be hot and crowded, and for a golfing vacation makes little sense as hitting the links during the sultry season in Orlando will leave you sopping with sweat by the fifth hole. The peak golf season at Disney in Orlando is from September through April due to the heat and the summer break crowd. Keep in mind that Bermuda shorts and a shirt with collar are proper attire at Disney's golf course.
Pick a day early in the week for a vacation to Disney if possible. The best days for golfing at Disney World are Monday through Wednesday and the best tee times on those day are late in the afternoon. Realize that the reason why you can more easily get a tee time late in the afternoon is because it will be warmer than in the morning, even during winter.
