How to Buy an American Airlines Ticket
By Jackson Lewis
American Airlines has one of the largest passenger airline fleets in the world. No matter where you are traveling for your golf vacation or other holiday destination, American Airlines will have flights available to the closest major airport. The airline also boasts one of the oldest frequent-flier programs in the United States that can be used to help you optimize the price of your trip.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Register for an American Airlines Advantage account (see Resources at the bottom of this article). The website will ask for your full name, e-mail address, phone number, mailing address and a password for your account. By registering for an Advantage account, you can gain credit for your airline miles to use for future discounted tickets, hotels and other travel package discounts.
Log in to your American Airlines Advantage account at the American Airlines online ticket purchase site. Then, select the "Registrations->Book Flight" menu option on the American Airlines website.
Enter a departure city in the applicable text field on the website followed by your desired destination city. You can enter the three-letter airport abbreviation or the city name that you are going to travel.
Choose the desired method to sort your flight search. The available options are by "schedule" or "price and schedule". Then pick your departure and arrival dates by clicking the calendar.
Select the number of passengers, cabin preference, carrier preference and country of residence on the website menu options. If you do not know whether American Airlines---of one of its partners---flies to your desired travel destination, choose the "All Carriers" menu option, which will display all available flights for your travel destination. When you have finished, click the "Go" menu button to view the available flights.
Choose the departure and returning flights by left-clicking the menu button to the left of the displayed flights you desire followed by the "Go" menu option. You will be asked to review your American Advantages account information. Then you will be taken to a billing menu to enter your credit card information to complete your purchase of the American Airlines ticket.
