How to Pick Golf Equipment for Tricks
People love to see golf tricks. From backward club shots to tricks performed by Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods, it's all part of the entertainment value of the game of golf. There are a lot of tricks, as well as literature and online videos that can teach you how to do them. But an important component is having the right equipment to perform any and all tricks.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step 1
Determine what trick shot or shots you're planning on learning and performing. This is imperative because it will determine which and how much golf equipment you end up buying.
Step 2
Do your research. There are many shots out there and many different clubs to use. Figure out which clubs to use by learning the shots, reading about them and even consulting professional trick shot golfers or someone who has trick shot knowledge.
Step 3
Once you know what shots and what clubs you need, purchase them, but don't buy the fanciest equipment. Most clubs on the market are designed for a round of golf, not trick shots, so those clubs probably won't help for trick shots. Clubs should be standard models.
Step 4
Test the clubs. Each club will have a different effect on the ball and shot, so its important to make sure it's the right clubs for the effect you want. For example, an 8 iron or a wedge is ideal for bouncing the ball off the club head, while a sand wedge has been shown to be good for hitting the ball backwards. So its important to make sure the club is exactly what you're looking for.

Tips & Warnings

Check out local golf shops for deals and mark down prices on equipment. It's often easier--and wiser--to get used equipment for the trick shots. You don't want to spend a ton of money on goofy shots that aren't part of a tournament or a real round.
