How to Play Hillbilly Golf
By Jackson Lewis
Hillbilly Golf is similar to Ladder Golf, horseshoes, Ladder Toss and Bolo Ball. The primary purpose of the game is to toss bolos at three-rung ladders made of plastic PVC piping that are set across from each other. Teams alternate turns in tossing their bolos at the ladder, trying to score themselves, and also trying to knock the opponent's bolos off the ladder. The game can be played with two individuals or as a team game.
Instructions
Difficulty: Easy
Place the two ladders about 15 to 30 feet apart. You will need to adjust the distance that the bolos will be thrown based on the age of the players and amount of space available.
Assign the teams. A player from each team will stand beside opposing ladders. One person from each team will alternate turns with a person from the other team, throwing each of their three bolos at the opposing ladder.
Attempt to throw your bolos to wrap around the highest rung on the ladder. Typically the top rung of the ladder will be worth three points, the middle rung two, and the lower rung one. Your opponent also may attempt to knock off your bolos.
Determine the score at the end of each round. The highest score for the round will be the first player to throw in the next round.
Play until a team has exactly 21 points. If your team exceeds 21 points, the points thrown in that round will not count, and you will start the next round at the amount of points you had in the previous round.
