How to Build a Golf Driving Range
Building a golf driving range can be as simple as buying a parcel of land and putting mats down to hit golf balls, or as difficult as building a multiplex hitting station with greens target markers. Most preferences will be determined by the builder of the driving range but there are certain basics that are necessary for the construction of any driving range.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step 1
Buy land. Buy land that will be fitting to the development of a golf course. The area should be at least 400 yards long and the width of the range should be determined by the number of hitting bays being put in. Find an area to put the range that is in an appealing spot for golfers to go on a daily basis.
Step 2
Get the land zoned. Have the land zoned for commercial use and the development of a golf range. If the land is not zoned for this or you can not rezone it, do not buy the land.
Step 3
Grow the grass. Lay seed and grow the grass first.
Step 4
Put in markers. Depending on the amount of bays, put a few greens for targeting out in the distance, as well as yardage signs. Put pins in the greens and make sure all markers are visible to the golfers practicing.
Step 5
Construct the hitting bays: Building the hitting bays will take a little time in that they need to be placed so that the distances are accurate and all golfers are safe. Build the bays with a 4 x 5 foot mat or grass tee area. On both sides of this hitting area create a square barrier about 5 feet long and two and a half feet high. Then in the middle of this square metal structure tie on synthetic canvas to keep balls from going through and endangering other golfers.
Step 6
Construct a pro shop: Build a pro shop that is convenient for golfers and a comfortable atmosphere. The more a golfer feels like he or she is at home the better chance that they will return to the range more often.
