How To Prepare For Heat
A day of golf is better played with cooperation of the weather. However, even on a warm, seemingly perfect day it is important to take precautions against heat-related ailments. Knowing what measures to take before, during and after the round will aid in enjoyment and safety.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step 1
Drink plenty of liquids approximately an hour before your tee time. Water and sports drinks without a high concentration of sugar are ideal. Steer clear of sodas and carbonated beverages as the sodium in them actually draws water out of the body.
Step 2
Wear light, breathable fabrics so as not to create additional heat with too many layers. Adidas and Nike each have exceptional climate control apparel lines.
Step 3
Pack additional beverages to bring with you to the course.
Step 4
Apply a liberal amount of sunscreen. The SPF will not only prevent having to nurse a post-round burn, but the chemicals in sunscreen will deflect sunlight and help to maintain a cooler internal temperature.
Step 5
Wear a hat and/or polarized sunglasses in order to protect your eyes.
Step 6
Hydrate often throughout and after the round.
