How to Hit the Golf Ball Far
Hitting a golf ball far is something that every golfer enjoys and tries to accomplish. This is both a blessing and a flaw of every golfer: When most golfers try to hit the ball far they begin to over swing and change their general swing motion, making them extremely inaccurate and wild. Making solid contact is essential to hitting the ball far. It doesn't matter how hard a golfer swings unless he makes solid contact with the ball. Here are a few tips to help any golfer make solid contact when trying to beat the ball down the fairway or crush any club in the bag.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step 1
Drop your hands: Dropping the hands is essential when coming down to hit the ball. To do this when reaching the top of your back swing drop the hands down to the hip and bring the club through. Dropping the hands will allow the club to fall into proper hitting position and allow for solid contact. Practice this technique with every shot.
Step 2
Swing through: It is important to swing through the ball to the target. Many people focus too much on the ball and then don't allow the club to follow through the ball, losing much power. Focus on the follow through and this will allow for greater distance due to increased club head speed and power.
Step 3
Come down on the ball: It is important to come down on the ball when swinging the club because this will send the ball higher into the air and compress the ball at a much higher level. This compression and increased carry will increase distance on all shots. When coming down on the ball still focus on the follow through or shots will become errant. Also, coming down on the ball with wedges into greens will cause for increased backspin, creating more control. When putting all these components together all of a golfer's shots will go farther.
