The Baja, a fascinating contrast of desert and sea, hosts the cities of La Paz,
Guaymas, Tijuana and Los Cabos. Highlighted by sunny days and cool evenings, it
is a vacation spot dedicated to sport. Located on The Sea of Cortez the beaches are
invigorating and excellent for diving and snorkeling. Whale watching in the Pacific Ocean
is best from November to February when the whales pass within a few hundred feet
of the shore. Fishing is year round and Blue Marlin are the trophies. Marine life includes
850 species of seals, dolphins, giant manta rays and hammerhead sharks. Fishermen
and photographers seek the hidden rock formations around El Arco and the Pinnacle
in the indigo waters of The Sea of Cortez.
"Cabo" is the center of Mexico's golfing community. The area consists
of Cabo San Lucas, San José Del Cabo and the "Corridor" between the two.
Cabo San Lucas is a mecca for nightlife while San José Del Cabo retains the charm
of an old world village. With its natural beauty, awe-inspiring vistas and dependable
weather, this area has become a golfer's heaven. The mystical desert terrain has
been the perfect setting for carving some of North America's best golf courses.
Golf Courses
The San José Golf Course is a nine hole course with a fantastic view of the ocean.
Great for an afternoon of practice before you head out to play at the
Palmilla Club De Golf. The Jack Nicklaus Signature course opened in 1992. It was
designed and built to compliment the rustic nature of Los Cabos. Boasting views of
the Sea of Cortez, the course winds around centuries old cardon cacti, past desert
arroyos, over rugged mountains and down to the ocean. At Cabo del Sol
lies the Jack Nicklaus' internationally acclaimed Ocean Course. With seven holes on
the Sea of Cortes, this spectacular masterpiece is referred to as "the Pebble
Beach of the Baha". Named to Golf Magazine's "Top 100 Courses in the World",
Nicklaus himself called it "the best piece of golf property on earth".
Joining the excellence of the Ocean Course, Tom Weiskopf designed the Desert
Course. This target style course incorporates large landing areas with few forced
carries to ensure an enjoyable golf experience for players of all levels on a
tournament quality course. Cabo Real is one of Robert Trent Jones best designs.
It offers breathtaking views and constant sea breezes. Newest of the golf gems in
Cabo is El Dorado and thanks to designer Jack Nicklaus, the magic of desert golf expands
in this golfing paradise.
