Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Golf Vacations
Ixtapa is one of a kind. Conceived and developed in the 1970's, Ixtapa is the most modern resort on Mexico's legendary Gold Coast. It has an ecology-minded master plan that requires the allotment of half the land as an ecological reserve. Seven miles down the road is Zihuatanejo, a quaint Mexican village lined with palm fringed beaches and old world charm.
Set against the lush green backdrop of the Sierra Madre del Sur Mountains, the
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo area runs along a tropical coastline with dozens of sandy beaches
and scalloped coves. The area enjoys an average temperature of 78.8 degrees
with afternoon showers during the rainy season, from June to September. Sea
breezes provide an agreeable year round temperature.
The combination of culture and comfort makes this a unique destination. Ixtapa
offers a consistently fine collection of deluxe properties each one distinct in
architecture and atmosphere. A pleasant contrast to the modern Ixtapa,
Zihuatanejo has comfortable, family-run inns, bungalows and three very special deluxe
properties. With its seaside cafes, intriguing native markets, a pleasant seaside
promenade and centuries of tradition, it is a fun place to explore.
Golf Courses
The area keeps golfers on the go with two world-class facilities. Marina Ixtapa Golf Club is part of one of the most select tourism complexes in the country. It includes navigable canals that span the compound, as well as a professional 18-hole, par 72 golf course designed by architect Robert Von Hagge. The course sits on an area of approximately 110 acres with undulating topography, expansive sand traps and 14 holes where water hazards come into play.
Palma Real Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. is located on the Pacific Coast and
is in perfect harmony with the terrain. Wild flora and fauna of the region surround
the course and provide stunning panoramic views of the sea. The par 72 course has
strategically placed bunkers with Bermuda greens and lakes filled with
alligators adding a truly exotic touch.
Whether you are looking for five-star opulence or rustic seclusion this "one place that's
two places at once" provides the best Mexico has to offer.
