New Brunswick Golf Vacations

New Brunswick New Brunswick - where the hospitality is as receptive as the greens on their superb golf courses. White sand stretches for miles along sun-drenched beaches - and seemingly forever in fairway bunkers. The Atlantic Ocean is the backdrop to a destination that offers as much diversity in its golf courses as it does in its history and tradition.

Here's a sample of the golf courses in New Brunswick: For over 100 years, golfers have traveled to test their skill at the seaside Algonquin Golf Course designed by Thomas McBroom. Located in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, the Algonquin takes advantage of its location on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay, with a spectacular seaside sequence of holes on the back nine.

Centrepiece of a master-planned community, New Brunswick's Royal Oaks was designed in the tradition of the links style, sculpted from rolling hills that used to be home to a sprawling horse ranch. The first course in Canada to be designed by acclaimed golf architect Rees Jones, official architect for the US Open and son of legendary designer Robert Trent Jones, Royal Oaks is a test of skill as well as a highly enjoyable and scenic course. Over 54 acres of water were incorporated into the course design, adding to its character and challenge.

New Brunswick shoreline sand trap The striking beauty of The Lynx at Kingswood Park, Fredericton, designed by Graham Cooke and Darrell Huxham, will overwhelm you. Its signature 14th hole: blasted from the landscape, it features a pond fed by a 30-foot waterfall cascading down a rock wall. According to Cooke, "This golf course is visually stunning with sculpted ponds, wild untouched marsh, several sod wall bunkers and mature sentinel hite Pines, one of our finest projects to date."

Sunset over a water hazard The 18-hole, par 72 Mactaquac course was designed by William Mitchell with a signature hole (fourteen) which has been referred to as "diabolical" due to the pond 200 yards into the is a 385 yard par 4 that covers the entire fairway. Score Canada Magazine ranked Mactaquac 6th overall in Atlantic Canada. *
