Costa Rica Golf Overview
Costa Rica is easy to describe in physical terms: 19,600 square miles, with a population of a bit over three million people and mountains ranging up to 12,500 feet. Thee basic language is Spanish; however the population is approximately 80% white, with 20% consisting of a mixture of Europeans and native Indians.
A most unusual aspect of Costa Rica is their stable economy and political climate. Located in a part of the world tortured by upheaval and almost constant war, it has been described as a happy oddity in Central America - a stable democracy that has disbanded its army to preserve the peace.
San José, the capital city and located at approximately 3,800 feet, has a population of a bit over one million. Within Costa Rica are several golf resorts which are listed below.
Golf may be enjoyed on the Cariari Country Club's 18-hole championship course. Designed by George Fazio and
his nephew, it came into play in 1970. Measuring 6,590/6,078/5,366 yards, it pars at 71/72. With undulating terrain,
some multi-tiered greens, narrow tree-lined fairways and water becoming a factor on eight holes, it will offer all you
can handle.
