Solus Wedge Wedge - Golf Equipment Review

  • Solus Wedge Wedge

Company engineers developed the Solus in response to the diverse spin, trajectory and distance characteristics of short-game shots. As a result, they loaded their product with a won of interesting features, like a Crescent Cut sole contour, which allows the face to be opened and closed at will and the golfer to employ bounce when it's needed (sand) and negate it when it isn't (tight lies). A lowered leading edge affords better setup at address and helps on tight and downhill lies as well as buried shots in the bunker. Minimal offset, a relieved heel section and the club's overall shape produces a high and rearward CG, which combine for more spin and forgiveness.

    Clubface:  Same
    Clubhead:  Carbon steel
    Clubs:  51 GW; 56 SW; 61 LW
    Design:  Cast cavity-back
    Shaft(s):  Solus Q-Shaft steel (wedge)
    Size:  Standard
    Year:  2005
  • Bottom Line:  Never have so many different design theories gone into a wedge--out interest is piqued.
