For many years
Vail
and
Beaver Creek
have been known for their superb skiing.
The area is also renowned for its magnificent mountain and forest settings, which
are virtually unmatched in this country. But, alas, winter does come to an end.
The beauty is still there and so are the many restaurants, bars, shops, hotels,
and condos, all representing a huge dollar investment and earning virtually nothing.
The resorts of
Colorado
have discovered golf. They did not ease into the field,
but went in under a full head of steam, employing such august names as Jack
Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Pete Dye, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Gary Player to
produce some of the finest golf courses anywhere. Two such areas are Vail
Village Resorts and the Beaver Creek Resort complex, approximately 10 miles
apart. Due to their proximity, most of the amenities are available to guests of
either resort.
Within a 20-mile radius there are four first-class championship golf courses. Each
has a full pro shop, locker rooms and restaurants. The golf season in this area is
late June to mid-September.
