Within the area known as Mauna Lani Resorts are two outstanding golf courses
and many tennis courts. It has one of the finest hotels to be found anywhere, The
Mauna Lani Bay Hotel (which has exquisite bungalows). The area also offers two
of the most posh groupings of condominiums: the Islands at Mauna Lani and the
Mauna Lani Point Condominiums.
Guests have playing privileges on both courses and may use the various
restaurants. No matter where you decide to stay here, you will have made a very
good choice.
The South Course
opened in late 1991. It encompasses a new nine, joined with the
front nine of the older layout. Weighing in at a strong 7,015/6,370/5,331 yards, it
pars at 72.
The North Course
reaches out 6,968/6,335/5,398 yards and also pars at 72.
The South Course sports a par five of 601 yards with water along the entire side
stretching from tee to green. The North has a couple of interesting challenges,
notably number 10 with an "island tee box," and the ninth hole, a par 4 reaching
out a monstrous 459 yards.
Virtually sculpted from lava with some "over the ocean" holes you will not soon
forget, these courses will test not only your skill but your nerve as well. They can
also test your vocabulary should you tangle with the many
lava outcroppings.
