Ketchum and Sun Valley Golf - Idaho

Sun Valley, the first complete ski resort in the United States, opened in December of 1935. The idea was that a visit to this resort area was to be "roughing it." That is, roughing it Hollywood style - glass-enclosed swimming pools, exquisite food, impeccable service, and orchestras performing nightly.

Today, of course, it is a large, self-contained village, with an opera house (movies), its own lake (rowing and paddleboat rentals), swimming pools, horseback riding, skeet and trap shooting, whitewater raft trips on the Salmon River, and fishing. Additional services include a drug store, barber and beauty shop, post office, several clothing stores, florist, bank, hospital, taxi service, excellent meeting and convention facilities, and so many restaurants I could not name them all. The summer months feature a jazz festival, motorcycle and bicycle races, flower and musical festivals, a back-country run, a Mexican Fiesta Grande, ballet performances, parades, a rodeo, and much more.

There are two major golf resorts in Sun Valley - The Elkhorn Lodge & Condominiums and The Sun Valley Lodge Inn & Condominiums.
