The Lawton Municipal Golf Course is a friendly, laid-back course that can be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities. Play from your choice of four tees to best match your golfing ability. From the back tees, the par-72 course measures 7,142 yards. The slope rating is 102, so probably not the hardest course you will ever play. You will encounter a few challenges during your round, an occasional bunker or water hazard. There is some variety in the design of each hole, but you will have to wait for the back nine for a big difference in distance. You'll open your round with six straight par-4s and seven of the first nine holes are par-4. The back nine features a nice mix of long, short and medium holes with three par-5s, three par-4s and three par-3s. The longest hole on the course is the 560-yard, par-5 fourteenth hole. It is the only hole over 500 yards on the course.Any maintenance issues in the past were remedied when the management changed a few years ago. The fairways are soft and trimmed and the greens look great. This public course has never looked better. The course is quite pretty and can be enjoyed for just $25 with a cart during the week. On the weekends, the price averages around $30 (including cart). Monthly annual memberships are available for local golfers.One of the biggest draws of Lawton Municipal Golf Course is the friendly atmosphere. There are tournaments and scrambles throughout the year, as well as night golf opportunities and cookouts. Some of the events require a membership but others are open to the public. This family-friendly golf course even welcomes well-behaved dogs on leashes during certain times.A driving range and putting green are available on site for extra practice before your round.Overall, the Lawton Municipal Golf Course is a great value and a nice place to call your golfing home.
overall course great for the money. Crew works around the clock trying to get greens back up to par from previouse management. Fun for family golf. Good food, fun and lots of friendly staff. Comfortable atmosphere.
