Tanglewood Manor Golf Course

best greens in the surrounding area. close to perfect condition. greens roll true and hold incoming shots. tees and fairways in fine shape. a nice blend of easy and hard holes, with distinctive flairs. no. 8 is a par killer hole. No. 10 is a sub 500 par 5 with a menacing pond in front, tests your gumption to succeed in landing safely in 2. no. 17 presents a tee shot from a high cliff. no. 15 is a downhill, role-the-dice blind tee shot to a tight tree-lined fairway sloped to the right. no. 12 is another daring downhill 290 yd par 4 with a creek at about 240 yds.
plenty of tree-lined fairways, fairway bunkers,and elevation changes. lancaster county tournements are occassionally played here. greens are fast.

I had just finished playing Pilgrim''''s Oak before heading out to Tanglewood. Big difference. A fairly new course and then the old one. Tanglewood presents an older generation style of layout...tree lined fairways and tee boxes that are very close to greens. A great course to walk! Sometimes our opinions can be stymied by the round we play...mine very slow on the back nine and a partner who talked non-stop. Holes generally run back and forth, redundant a bit with trees along the rough but still fun enough that it was worth a play. Rough a bit long for my liking but it''''s golf afterall. Strangest yet most fun hole would be the dogleg right Par 4 3rd hole with a receptive fairway, but if you don''''t drive the ball long enough, you will have no view over the big hill to the green (don''''t over hit the green). Check out the cool wood carving next the the Ladies tee! Another carving awaits off the 9th green. The par 5 10th hole does have a neat little pond in front of it and your tee shot from the par 4 17th is way up to way down. Not a real hard course, even sprayed shots into the trees are mostly playable. Enjoy!

The course is maintained beautifully, but it isn't too challenging. You can spray the ball and get away with it most of the time. Quick greens will make it tough on the front, but once you get the hang of it you can score low. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Fun course to play.
