You get what you pay for in life! Those rating this course as the worst are spoiled country club wannabes. The true golfer will find joy on any course. This is a more than 100 yr old municipal golf course that receive thousands of rounds from the beginner to some of the countries top amateurs. It is the home of the First Tee and has a wonderful community based program. It also relies on public support and volunteers. Those that play it usually come back. The better players enjoy the the old City charm and small but challenging green. The beginners and intermediates enjoy good instruction, great practice, and a course that really accepts all. So you country club wannabes that wish they were playing CC-Style courses stay away!

schenley

the WORST golf course i ever tempted to play. Besides offering NO carts and have 237 yd par 4's u have to worry about other players hitting u with their golf balls as the course is poorly designed. The tee boxes will break ur hands as well as ur tees as u have to jam them into the ground. the greens are horrendoulsy kept. There are hardly any 150 yd markers. i have played this course 2 times the first was when i was young and a novice. i came back and quit after 3 holes as this course is horrendous. the only plus i can say is that it is cheap to play until u put into account u have to walk 18 holes and for a few more dollars u can play a nice course

Being from the Midwest and having to walk golf courses most of my life was not a challenge until I played Schenley. For less than $1 / hole you can practice your game and have fun doing it. First Tee says it all, they are committed to instruction and helping anyone who wants to play the game of golf. If you have a rated handicap then this course isn't for you. But if you want to work on hitting your long irons and fine tune your short game then this is the course for you. No Bunkers and no water so no worries (Unless you enjoy the beach)

I love the urban environment of this old links style golf course. The streets make it a more interesting challenge than a straight uninteresting golf course that you can pay more money to play. 18 dollars for 18 holes is a bargain for this beautifly kept course. I play this golf course all the time and I love their new tee boxes. It is a challenges your short game and I think that the people who commented above probably were 7 over after the first 3 holes and thats why they quit. It is more challenging than the yardages show.

WORST golf course in the world. I'd hate to repeat what the others said about it, but its all true. i'll never go back. I LOVE playing golf, but this course was just a chore. I love hills, and this one has a lot of them--but its just silly. holes 8 and 9 are side by side and for both, the tees are on top of one hill, and the greens are ontop of another hill. and in between is a road. its really dumb. i was actually tempted to leave the course before finishing...

Every true golfer in pittsburgh should play schenley. Its an experience and if you go into it with a bad attitude you will hate it. But if you give it a fair shot youll get a kick out of hitting over roads 7 or so times a round. The tee boxes are fine now since they installed new ones. The par 3s are legit and could hole up well at any course. Give it a shot if you have an open mind.

Schenley is a cool little course and much toughteer than the grip it and rip it crows will admit. hey no carts so you have to walk. Damn good exercise too. Most regulars do skip 8 & 9 . I like to go to get 9 in right after work. You would also be surprised there are some awfully good regulars there and the racial diversity is a great opportunityto mix with other races and cultures

I Joined the First tee of Pittsburgh Just this year. Schenley park is a truley great golf course. For Beginners it is of great value. Also for experts who dont know the lay out of this course they will be challenged with the hills and hitting across roads. Truley a great golf course. Also the people that work there are very nice!!

Awful....

I agree w/ 300. First off, 15$ is too much for even 9 holes here, hitting off mats in the tee box. hole design is rediculous, having to hit across a road to the green on 17....just didnt like it at all. balls flying above your head every hole....just not fun...
