i played it on a monday morning with two of my friends, one has a coworker who is a member. we teed off at 7 45 and i thought, and still think that it is one of the hardest courses ive ever played. tougher than pebble beach, bethpage black, and the ocean course. if your putting is not at its BEST you will struggle to break 100

This is truly one of America's hardest venues. If you want the total experience of championship golf, this is the course you MUST play. Gnarly rough, deep bunkers, and greens that run at 12+ are the everyday norm. Every shot can be an adventure for the pro or the high-handicapper. This is not a place for the feint of heart, or the casual hacker. When you view some of the low ratings by people with names like "Anonymous," you can be sure they either never played the course, or were so frustrated by the difficulty of Oakmont that they took out their frustrations on the ratings.
